We received a free sample of a gluten-free Pizza Kit from GalloLeo Organics. This pizza kit promises homemade pizza in 30 minutes and all you need to do is add oil, water and toppings, so we gave it try for dinner.

We liked the concept of a pizza kit because it is a unique gluten-free product and one that was designed to be a time saver. It seem like we never have all of the ingredients to make a pizza in the house at the same time, so this kit would eliminate extra trips to the grocery store for our family.
We also liked that the pizza dough ingredients include healthful flours, such as buckwheat and teff and doesn’t have any artificial ingredients or preservatives.

The gluten-free pizza kit includes:

  • Sauce pack
  • Dough mix
  • Round parchment paper
  • Directions for preparing the pizza
  • Recipe suggestions for unique topping combinations

At first the instructions seemed daunting because there are 10 steps to follow, but once you start working your way through them they are quite easy. Heat water and add to packet of dough mix, combine and form into a ball. Place the parchment paper on a baking tray and add olive oil (to keep it from sticking). Then roll out the dough forming an edge and par bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and spread the packet of pizza sauce, top with cheese and whatever else tickles your fancy and cook until the cheese is melted.

The pizza would come out much better if it was cooked on a pizza stone or directly on the oven rack. We cooked the pizza on a tray and feels this led to a soggy crust. The edges of the pizza were nice and toasted and perfectly crunchy.

We really liked the pre-measured sauce pack because we are always putting too much sauce on the pizza. The pizza sauce wasn’t sweet or too pungent, but next time we will add a little seasoning of our own prior to cooking. There was no crumbling of the crust and its taste reminded me of a hearty wheat crust.

The company is based in Asheville, NC and has just launched the gluten-free pizza kit, which can be purchased online through their website. We wouldn’t be surprised if you see this pizza kit on local store shelves soon!

The review listed above is my own opinion. I was not paid to post the review. However, we may receive free products in exchange for reviews from time to time. Otherwise, we review products that we personally bought/use with our family’s. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I have used personally, and think will be good fit for my readers
